Fall Essentials 2013

Fall Essentials 2013
Here are my top must-have essentials for fall 2013:
  1. Crisp White Blouse: Everyone should have this item in their closet, and it's just a great base to build different outfits around. I actually bought this one from H&M online for $15 and I love it. (Online=$15, In-store=$30)
  2. Cranberry Cardi: So I know oxblood is major for fall, but I really like oxblood's older sister cranberry, who seems to be forgotten lately. A cranberry colored cardigan for me, is the perfect piece to style during this season. The color is so rich and festive, and the cardigan style is so laid-back and effortless.
  3. The Plaid Pant: Plaid has been the mother of all trends for fall and this year I've been obsessing over tailored plaid pants. I'm digging the kind of dirty beige and grey color combo which brings a bit of grunge into the mix, which is especially interesting on a tailored sophisticated pant. The contrast of sophistication and grungy is definitely my kind of fall style :)
  4. Black Longchamp: This has to be my holy grail bag for the style, and function. I recently bought one from the swap meet for $33 And yes it's real :) The color I have is actually a tan neutral which goes with many outfits, but when I save up, I want to get the black one :)
  5. Festive Polishes: As I mentioned before, cranberry is my color pick for fall, but right up there is my new fave, silver.
  6. Silver Flat Shoes: #obsessed!!!! These Erma Loafers are out of my price range, so I am on the look out for an affordable pair. (Let me know if you know of any affordable silver loafer/oxfords under $100) This whole silver holographic trend is kind of like an extension of the galaxy trend but toned down and I'm digging it.
Let me know your fall essentials, because I love to see what's on your list!

Fall Shoe Haul

I got four words for you guys: Macy's Columbus Day Sale!
This fall I really wanted some kind of black ankle boot that I can wear on a day to day basis. For me, this means no heel. I found the perfect cut-out boot on Asos in the sale section which was super exciting. I love the "view runway" option where you see the item modeled by a real person which gives you a real life perspective on the item. I was sold after seeing the runway clip of the model wearing skinnies walking down the runway in these cool ankle booties. The price was perfect for my budget, and the look was right up my alley. When I got the shoe in the mail I was blown away by the quality (soft suede upper, with leather interior and insole cushions already in place. Also made in Italy) All in all the shoe was a great purchase, and I felt like I got more than what I actually paid for.
Fell in love with these after trying them on at Macy's and knew I needed them in my life. Before this I never heard of the brand Frye before, but I know now that they make amazing high quality leather shoes. These are 100% leather upper and so so buttery soft! They have built-in insoles and they don't hurt the back of your ankles due to the soft buttery leather. I have another pair of taupe oxfords from Aldo that rubbed my ankles causing major blisters when I broke them in the first few wears. With these, there is no need to break them in because of the high quality leather. I have already been living in these for the past week and have no complains.
Found these in the sale section, and was drawn to them because of the gorgeous bold print. I never was interested in Michael Kors shoes but these were very eye-catching. What sold these to me was the quality and comfort of these slip ons because I am all about comfort and paying for quality. These are easy to wear with any casual ensemble and add an "Alexa Chung" quirky chic touch to any outfit.
I have been wanting riding boots for the longest time and I thought this sale was the best opportunity. I looked through many different styles and brands, and settled on these. The price of any high quality boot went upward to $200 dollars which was a little more than I was willing to spend. These were the perfect marriage of quality, style, and price. Made from high quality leather, these Marc Fishers were just the style I was looking for. I knew I didn't want something too trendy with a lot of buckles, and I knew I didn't want something too heavy. As much as I love the quality and look of the Frye and Steve Madden boots, they were out of my price range and too heavy. These Marc Fisher ones were light, and had a classic style to them. The best part, they were on sale!
What do you guys think? Let me know if you have any questions on the shoes I purchased and/or how they feel and fit. (I wear 7.5-8) Also let me know if you guys went fall shoe shopping! :)

OOTD: Fall Transition

Just wanted to share my outfit today. Also I finally got the 50mm 1.8 lens which is basically the holy grail must have item for fashion bloggers as said on some websites. So far I am loving it (#McDonalds) but one thing about the fixed lens is that it zooms in super close and the only way to zoom out is by moving yourself away from the thing you're taking a picture of. This makes taking food photography interesting because I would have to really lean back or get out of my chair to get the shot that I want. All in all I'm still getting use to this lens and hopefully I can get some nice photos this fall season.

Festival Sunday

Spent a lovely Sunday at the Harvest Moon Festival in Arcadia yesterday with my mom. The weather was so perfect because it was sunny but there was a nice cool breeze. The best part was the festival food which had everything from authentic korean bbq to shaved ice to crepes. As pictured above I had this fusion of the classic crepe with korean BBQ meat and kimchi inside. Soooo good.

Nonetheless I hope to keep posting little bits here and there starting this summer :) Hope everyone had a great Fourth of July and let me know in the comments what was your outfit of that day! Dine LA: Melting Pot

February 1st marked the end of Dine LA and the start of the 14 day count down till Valentines Day. This year my boyfriend and I got to experience Dine LA which comes around once a year around mid January till the first of February. During this time, many expensive restaurants in the LA region participate by creating a special three to four course menu with a discounted price for customers. They offer lunch and dinner with prices ranging from $15-$45 dollars a person. If you missed out this year, definitely mark your calenders for next year because this event is a great way to indulge in fine dining if you are on a budget.
As you can tell by the title, we went to Melting Pot in Pasadena. This place is a fondue restaurant that specializes in fine dining and setting a romantic ambiance. It's also known to be really expensive which is why we took advantage of their Dine LA deal.
First Course: Cheese Fondue-Wisconsin Trio "Fontina, Butterkäse and buttermilk bleu cheeses with white wine, scallions and a hint of sherry."
Second Course: Salad-Spinach and Mushroom Salad
Third Course: Main Entry-Coq Au Vin "Burgundy wine infused with fresh herbs, spices and mushrooms."
Fourth Course: Desert-Cookies N Creme Marshmallow Dream "Dark chocolate and marshmallow cream flambéed and topped with bits of delicious Oreo® cookies."

The food was incredible especially the desert was like no other. We both agreed to come back next year for the four course experience or at least just for desert. Our server was so nice and funny and even gave us extra strawberries and brownies free of charge. All in all I had a great experience at my first fondue restaurant and I was glad to have shared it with my someone special :)
